At Maison des Rêves, we believe that raising and reintegrating a child into society is not the responsibility of one person alone—it takes the support of an entire community. This belief aligns with the African proverb: “It takes a village to raise a child.” Just as a village nurtures, guides, and educates its children, we see our orphanage as a safe and supportive community that prepares children for a successful reintegration into their families and society.
For over five years, Maison des Rêves has been committed to not only providing shelter and care for children but also equipping them with the necessary tools for a brighter future. Many of our children come to us after having lived in other centers, often without a clear path forward. That is why we have adopted a reintegration strategy that ensures no child returns to their family unprepared. We believe that a child should only be reintegrated after they have either completed high school or received vocational training that enables them to become financially independent.
Our reintegration process is not just about returning a child to their biological family—it is about ensuring they have the emotional, educational, and economic foundation to thrive. We involve teachers, caregivers, mentors, and community members in their growth, just as a village comes together to support its children. By providing education, life skills, and emotional guidance, we give each child a strong foundation for self-reliance.
When a child is finally ready to be reintegrated, they do not go back as a dependent but as an empowered individual with the ability to support themselves and contribute positively to their family and community. Our work does not stop at reintegration—we continue to support our children, ensuring they have the encouragement and guidance they need as they transition into independent adulthood.
At Maison des Rêves, we are more than just a shelter—we are a village, a family, and a support system that stands by each child until they are ready to stand on their own. Together, with the strength of our community, we ensure that every child we raise has the opportunity to build a better future.
